RENO, Nev. (June 30, 2025) – When the dust settled on the 2025 Reno Rodeo, there were some very happy rodeo contestants heading out of town. The rodeo marks the start of the busy summer rodeo season and winning here gives contestants momentum as they head into “Cowboy Christmas,” which includes all of the rodeos held over the Fourth-of-July holiday.
In bareback riding, Garrett Shadbolt had the highest ride of the night with an 89-point ride on Rosser Rodeo’s Right on Q. However, it was Jess Pope who pulled out the win with an 86.5 point ride on Bridwell Pro Rodeo’s Scarlett Cat, giving the No. 6 bareback rider the win with 255.5 on three head and the coveted Silver Spurs.
Steer wrestling saw a tight race with just over two seconds separating the pack. Coming into Saturday night, it was Riley Duvall with the lead, but veteran bulldogger Will Lummus taking home the Silver Spurs and his first win at Reno with his 4.4-second throw for a 13.5 average. While Lummus took home the win, No. 5 Stetson Jorgenson had a slightly faster throw—clocked at 4.2-seconds—but came up just short with a 13.6 on three head.
In team roping, Aaron Tsinigine and Jeremy Buhler took home a pair of Silver Spurs with their 6.7-second throw, bringing their average to 16.2 seconds. It was Tsinigine’s third set of Silver Spurs and first win in Reno for Buhler. They didn’t take home the win so easily, as Dawson Graham and Dillon Graham wowed the Reno crowd with the fastest time of the night—a lightning-fast 6.6-second throw—but fell just short of the win with a 17.4 average.
The saddle bronc competition was fierce with only two non-qualifying rides of the night and only seven points separating the top from the bottom. No. 1 ranked Ryder Wright rode Bridwell Pro Rodeo’s No Tail Dale to an impressive 86-point score, but it was Australian cowboy Damian Brennan who won the coveted Silver Spurs with his 88.5-point ride on Corey and Lange’s Diamond Fever. Brennan came into the night with the lead and showed the Reno crowd why he’s a top ten bronc rider with his 263.5 points on three head.
In tie-down roping, two time defending champion Shad Mayfield came into championship Saturday looking for a three-peat. In one of the most surprising moments of the night, his run went unscored leaving the field wide open for No. 1 Riley Webb to take home his second set of Silver Spurs with an impressive 8.3-second run. His run was the fastest time of the night and brought his overall time to 26.5 seconds on three head.
Women’s breakaway roping continues to be a fan-favorite event, delivering jaw-dropping performances and split-second throws. Suzanne Williams threw the fastest time of the night with a swift 2.1-second time, but it was No. 1 ranked Taylor Munsell who defended her Silver Spurs with a 2.6-second throw and bringing her average to 8 seconds on the week.
It was a wild week in barrel racing that saw a new arena record set when McKenna Coronado blitzed through her run with a 16.62-second time. She finished fourth on the night with a 51.15 second time on three head. In a repeat of last year’s performance, Emily Beisel re-claimed the fastest time of championship Saturday with a speedy 17.12-second run and Hailey Kinsel taking home the win thanks to her consistent performances and 17.14-second run during the night. The defending champion ended the week with a 50.97-second average, besting her 2024 time, and the Silver Spurs.
The bulls dominated Saturday night, bucking off all but two of the competitors. No. 14 bull rider Jessi Petri had the first qualifying ride of the night with an impressive 86-point ride on Bridwell Pro Rodeo’s Pound Town. However, it was No. 2 bull rider Stetson Wright who followed up his 92.5-point ride from earlier in the week with an 89.5-point ride on Rosser Rodeo’s Loguns Legacy and bringing his total to 182 on two head. Wright added another set of Silver Spurs to his already impressive collection and also took home the coveted title of All-Around Cowboy.
