Our Commitment to Northern Nevada

We Rodeo for The Kids – Here in Reno, we believe in supporting the youth of our community!
Our 2011 President, Mike Lucke, introduced the tagline, We Rodeo for The Kids! The Reno Rodeo Association focuses on identifying new and innovative ways to support the youth of the local and regional community. Some of the more recent examples of how the Reno Rodeo Association has directly supported local community needs include the following:

  • 2022

    • In February 2023, Josh Iveson the Reno Rodeo Association 2022 President presented an annual check to the Reno Rodeo Foundation in the amount of $200,000.
    • As a result of the 50/50 raffle during the rodeo, $103,000 was donated to 10 different local non-profits including Nevada Support Military Alliance, Mom’s on the Run, Lead with Horses, Center for Adaptive Riding and Therapy, as well as others.
    • A variety of other donations throughout the year reached close to $60,000.
  • 2021

    • In February, 2022, Craig Downie the Reno Rodeo Association 2021 President presented it’s annual check to the Reno Rodeo Foundation in the amount of $200,000.
  • 2020

    • $120,000.00 contribution to the City of Sparks for a park to be built accessible for kids with disabilities.
  • 2019 

    • In April of 2020, the RR Association presented its 2019 annual check to the RR Foundation (estimated to be at least $350,000.00)
  • 2018 

    • $20,050.00 gift to Applied Behavior Technologies in support of services for autism and other disabilities including parent training, home therapy, and social skills groups
    • $30,000.00 contribution to Northern Nevada RAVE Family Foundation in support of respite for families caring for children with special needs, while training high school students to work with these children
    • $27,500.00 check to Life Changing Community Outreach in support of a playground and resource center for inner-city children
    • $30,000.00 gift to JUSTin Hope Foundation in support of families affected by Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other neurodevelopment disorders
    • In April of 2019, the RR Association presented its 2018 annual check to the RR Foundation (estimated to be at least $250,000.00)
  • 2017 

    • $250,000.00 awarded to the Reno Rodeo Foundation for its general fund which supports children in 14 Northern Nevada counties
  • 2016 

    • $250,000.00 awarded to the Reno Rodeo Foundation for its general fund
  • 2015 

    • $156,000.00 awarded to the Reno Rodeo Foundation for its general fund
  • 2014 

    • $276,000.00 awarded to the Reno Rodeo Foundation for its general fund
  • 2013 

    • $179,000.00 awarded to the Reno Rodeo Foundation for its general fund
    • $91,200.00 check to the Marvin Picollo School (Reno) for a new therapeutic preschool playground and indoor equestrian facility upgrades
