Hopeful Singers Compete for Invitation to Sing the National Anthem at the 2015 Reno Rodeo.
RENO, Nev. (April 21, 2015) – The top 10 contestants will take the stage at Gilley’s at the Nugget in Sparks on April 22 at 8 p.m. for the final round of the Reno Rodeo’s “Rodeo Idol” contest. A panel of judges will select five singers to sing the National Anthem during the 2015 Reno Rodeo.
Reno Rodeo officials launched the “Rodeo Idol” contest in March by asking contestants to submit videos of them singing the National Anthem. Of the more than 30 entries submitted, 15 semi-finalists made it to an online voting round where Reno Rodeo Facebook fans voted for their favorite singer.
The eight top vote-getters and two Judge’s choice “wild cards” were named “Rodeo Idol” finalists and will show Reno why they should be selected by singing the National Anthem and an additional song of their choice for the crowd at Gilley’s. In addition to the honor of singing our National Anthem at the 2015 Reno Rodeo, selected singers will also receive four tickets to that night’s performance, sponsors room tickets for dinner and more.
With more than $2 million in prize money up for grabs, top professional cowboys and cowgirls will come to town June 18-27, 2015 to compete in the 96th annual Reno Rodeo, known across the country as the “Wildest, Richest Rodeo in the West.”
