The City of Sparks provided a proclamation to the Reno Rodeo declaring June 16th – June 25th “Reno Rodeo Days.”
2nd Vice President Bill Summy and Executive Committee members Bill Johnson and Jim Lindsey accepted the proclamation from Sparks Mayor Pro Tempore Ron Smith.
WHEREAS, the Reno Rodeo will be held June 16-25, 2016; and
WHEREAS, in its historic 97th year, the Reno Rodeo has been an important tradition in the northern Nevada area; and
WHEREAS, the Reno Rodeo is made possible with the assistance of hundreds of volunteers and thousands of fans and spectators who enjoy every minute of the exciting variety of rodeo events and entertainment; and
WHEREAS, the Reno Rodeo Foundation is a non-profit group, dedicated to keeping the history and grandeur of rodeo alive; and
WHEREAS, Since 1986, the Reno Rodeo Foundation, as the giving arm of the Reno Rodeo, has donated more than $6 million to educational scholarships, special children’s charities, purchasing new clothing for kids rescued from unsafe homes, literacy programs to at-risk youth, and serves as the anchor for large capital projects to improve the lives of children; and
WHEREAS, started by community leaders, the Reno Rodeo has grown into an important competition on the rodeo circuit, attracting top cowboys and cowgirls and offering top prizes that truly make it the “Wildest, Richest Rodeo in the West.”
NOW, THEREFORE, I GENO R. MARTINI, Mayor of the City of Sparks, Nevada, do hereby proclaim June 16-25, 2016
