All proceeds benefit ongoing charitable projects designated by the Reno Rodeo Association. **Each plate is an authentic Nevada motor vehicle license plate produced by the State of Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles. The only difference is that the lettering is "RED". These are collectable souvenir plates only and should not be used as actual license plates for vehicle registration purposes. The "RED" lettering helps the highway patrol determine a souvenir plate and consequently the intent to improperly use a souvenir plate is against the law. Nevada is the "Rodeo State" Nevada is home to many of the top events in professional, collegiate and high school rodeo. They include the PRCA National Finals Rodeo held at Thomas & Mack and USST Cup Winter Tour Finale at the MGM Grand held in Las Vegas, the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) Championships in Las Vegas, the Reno Rodeo (the third largest regular season rodeo out of more than 700 in the country), National Senior Pro Rodeo Finals, Clark County Fair & Rodeo in Logandale, Laughlin Rodeo Days in Laughlin, Harvest Festival Fair and Rodeo in Pahrump, High School Rodeo in Elko, Silver State International Rodeo in Fallon just to name a few. The PRCA ranks rodeos by total dollar payouts to the contestants and so far, Nevada pays out more winnings to Professional Cowboys than any other state. "Nevada is truly the rodeo state and what a great way to recognize that," said Dr. Greg "Lightning" Williams, a member of the Reno Rodeo Association Executive Committee who came up with the idea for the special plates.
