Howdy Cattle Drive Participants:

We are just shy of 6 weeks ‘til the start of the 2008 Reno Rodeo Cattle Drive; so I thought I had better send you a quick note:

1)       Now is the time to get your boots, hat and butt in shape – If you have access to saddle horses – get in the saddle and start doing some riding. You also should be doing some stretching, walking and maybe some stair climbing. Start getting yourself accommodated to the heat.

2)      Hopefully, you have already made flight or travel arrangements to arrive in Reno by the 14th of June.

3)       If needed, make your hotel reservations now! We are holding a block of rooms at the Peppermill Hotel – Casino under
GROUP CODE: ARRCD08
Cutoff for room block is May 15, 2008
Peppermill Hotel Casino
2707 South Virginia Street, Reno
1-866-821-9996
(775) 826-2121

4)      If you’re bringing a tent – make sure you know how to set it up. Check out your sleeping bags and other personal items you will bring. Remember, the total weight of gear cannot exceed 40 lbs.

5)      If you bought new Wranglers, get them washed (several times) and broken in – check out the website for what is acceptable and not acceptable attire on the drive and in cow camp! http://renorodeo.com/content/view/33/39/

6)      Each one of you will receive one ticket to the opening performance of the 2008 Reno Rodeo on Friday night – June 20th. If you would like to purchase additional tickets in our block of reserved seats for family and friends, please contact Sheryl at the Reno Rodeo office ASAP. This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

7)      We will meet on the porch of the Reno Rodeo office on Sunday, June 15th at 8:00 AM– please have all you gear packed in soft sided duffle bags and under the 40 lbs. weight limit (including your tent).

8)      Please make arrangements to be dropped off at the Reno Rodeo office by 8:00 AM Sunday June 15th; we will have coffee, juice and muffins available. It is best that you don’t leave a car at the rodeo grounds. We will set up a shuttle from the Peppermill if you are staying there.

9)      As we return to the rodeo grounds on Thursday, June 19th, there will be a lot of changes to the grounds. We will instruct you where to turn your horse over to the Horse Wrangler (Dave Dohnel), where to pick up your gear and where we will be meeting for lunch and awards. After lunch, you will be responsible for your own transportation back to your hotel or wherever you’re staying.

I’m looking forward to meeting new friends and catching up with old friends!
